Co-designing a ‘platform’: Arts Council and Thrive
May 23, 2007 – 12:39 amDavid Wilcox and I are working on a project with The Arts Council’s OD Thrive! project. Our remit is to assist them with their online community. We see this as a couple of phases which weave in and out of the virtual/physical worlds:
1. Helping the project members (up to approx 150ish) select the right online community tools - which will make their lives easier for the next two years as they communicate and share their learnings on and offline. Much of the communications about this will be virtual but we are all agreed that a physical workshop is absolutely vital to identify the partners’ needs and co-design the (technical) solution that fits best. John Smith in the ComPrac group referred to this as “to bring technology choices into the community’s awareness so it’s an integral part of their ongoing self-design…” (I think that’s a topping way to put it).
2. Having assisted them with this decision, sort it out
3. Where neccesary (naturally dependent on their choices), support and facilitate the group’s requirements socially, and possibly technically if new requirements emerge.
More will no doubt come. My first remit is to put together a supportive comparison chart of tasks mapped to tools (working with David’s excellent scenario-based workshop), and which ‘platform’ has the corresponding modules.
