Rapid prototyping with Plone: Delib’s Skillswap report

June 4, 2007 – 1:36 pm

Andy and Ben from Team Rubber did a grand job of breaking down some barriers in our heads at last week’s Skillswap; not only did they do a ‘from the floor’ live prototyping session with Plone (we co-designed a sheep farmers’ community, us west country lot, honestly), but we got to see videos too.

Their report is now live, but this is the bit I like best, and why I like Team Rubber so much:

I hope we at least raised some interesting questions and got people thinking about ways to smooth out their process and working relationship with clients. We were pleased to be asked in the bar afterwards: ‘why do you guys do this (for our benefit, for free)?’. It’s a good question; I think the answer was/is something like ‘because we’ve met good people from similar things in the past, because it’s in our interest to make Bristol better at this sort of thing and mostly just because it’s what you do, isn’t it? It’s weirder to withhold things you’re good at than share them, surely?’.

Yes mate. It is what you do. And yes, it is weird withholding things that you are good at. Good work all!
