Ed,
I found this late - but thanks for sharing it. Really helpful for a training course I'm running next week. I shall accredit you in spades!
Cheers,

[...] I think that one of the roles of the social reporter is to act as a connector between groups and across networks - so I’m naturally pleased by Clay’s analysis. I think it also ties in with the analysis of different types of online community identified by Ed Mitchell and the challenges of facilitating them. [...]

[...] Ed Mitchell wrote a really interesting post on community management back in January, identifying three main ways of approaching it: centralised, de-centralised and distributed. It’s a big post: print it out and muse over it with a cup of tea. It’s worth it. [...]

Thanks for this post Ed . . . lots of material here to talk about when we next meet! But in the meantime, I would be interested in your views on a one-take PPT slidecast here: http://www.ruralnetonline.org.uk/ideas-forums

As I say, it's one-take, audio and would NOT survive writing down and dissecting but there are loads of common threads I think.
